Hoover served as President from 1929 to 1933, and this letter is a response to one received from a California area Boys Club. Hoover earned his wealth as a mining engineer particularly related to the development of gold mines. He took office at the onset of the Great Depression and was memorialized by the naming of the Hoover Dam which began construction under his administration.
