An original handbill announcing the appearance of the Jimi Hendrix Experience at the Washington D.C. Ambassador Theatre

Dimensions: 8.5 x 11 in (21.59 x 27.94 cm)

This is one of two copies of this handbill known to have survived

Hendrix played at the Ambassador August 9-13, 1967 along with Natty Bumpo. This concert came on the heels of Hendrix's performance at the Monterey Pop Festival (June 16-18, 1967), when Hendrix burst upon the American music scene and became known world-wide.

A classic rock and roll concert poster, it announces the light show by "The Psychedelic Power & Light Co." and also the upcoming performance by San Francisco's "The Wild Flower" all written in groovy 60's lettering

Interestingly, the poster describes Hendrix's act as being "From England" even though Hendrix was American. It was in London that Hendrix achieved his initial success and formed The Experience with guitarist-turned-bassist Noel Redding and drummer Mitch Mitchell.
