A 1966 Gibson “Melody Maker” guitar personally owned and played by Jimi Hendrix. It’s a right-handed guitar that’s re-stringed for a left-handed guitarist, which Jimi often made as the supply of left-handed guitars were extremely low in the 1960’s. The serial number of the guitar is “555292”. The guitar comes with a vintage guitar case, which did not originally accompany the guitar, it’s simply just a beautiful vintage guitar case. Hendrix is known to have used guitars of several brands. He had a great collection, but he often used the same guitars on stage. The guitar is in good, stage used condition. Accompanied by a letter of provenance dated 1999 by Al Hendrix, the father of Jimi Hendrix. Al Hendrix states that the “Red Gibson Melody Maker Guitar was used by my son. He had many guitars, his favorites were Gibson and Fender.” In 1999, the same year as the letter was written and signed, Al Hendrix’s book “My Son Jimi” was published; he passed away three years later in 2002. The guitar also comes with a letter of provenance from Frank Holton, who bought the guitar from Al Hendrix in 1999, and sold it in 2018. Holton confirms that the serial number of the guitar is “555292”. Also comes with a Gotta Have Rock and Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
