John Lennon 1971 Signed Police Statement for April 1971 Kidnapping of Kyoko

The first document is the statement that John Lennon made to the Spanish police April 1971 regarding the reported kidnapping of Yoko's daughter, Kyoko.

Signed by Lennon in blue pen.

This is the only existing document of the statement Lennon made to the police.

The document is translated as follows: Statement of John Winston LENNON. - Following the previous procedure, the Inspector of the Civil Guard orders that a statement be taken from the person mentioned in the margins -whose remaining identification information is included in the initial procedure- who, in the presence of the Vice-Consul of England in this city and properly interrogated, declares: That he got married three years ago to a woman called Yoko ONO, who had a four-year-old daughter named Kyoko COX from her first marriage with Anthony David COX. That the girl has been living with her legal father since they got married, although she has spent some time with the declarant and his wife.

That two days ago they arrived in this capital city with the intention of taking custody of the aforementioned minor, and that today, both with a lawyer named CÉSAR LOZANO ALDEA, they went to Calas de Mallorca and when the minor was leaving school, they took the latter in their arms with her consent, and transferred her to this capital city, specifically to the Meliá Mallorca hotel with the intention of later communicating with the father of the aforementioned minor.

That while they were staying at the aforementioned hotel, two Police Inspectors showed up and invited the former to come to this Police Station in order to give a statement. Finally, he declares that the aforementioned lawyer stayed in Calas de Mallorca with the intention of locating the girl’s father and trying to resolve this matter.

In summary, this typescript document in Spanish concerns the accusations by Ono´s first husband, Tony Cox, of the alleged kidnapping of Yoko Ono's daughter Kyoko Cox, in Majorca, Spain, signed in blue ballpoint pen by John Lennon and two others.

Accompanied by ten photos from the original negatives, size 29cm x 20 cm each. Document size: 29,5cm x 21 cm.
