John Lennon owned and wore this three-quarter length black leather coat circa 1964. The distinguishing feature of the coat is the knitted black and white fabric lining the collar and part of the inside of the coat. A label printed "John Michael Bond Street" is found on the lining of the coat. Lennon worn the coat, most notably during a photo shoot when the Beatles went to Paris in January, 1964. An original copy of the fan magazine "Beatles Around The World!" showing John wearing the jacket in Paris during the shoot comes with the jacket (a picture from the magazine is shown here as well). John gave the coat to his cousin David Birch in the 1960's and a letter from Birch is included in the lot. The coat was also worn by John on the cover of the 1964 French EP "Les Beatles," an extremely rare record which has become known as "The Sandwich Cover." An original Apple Corps Ltd. color slide measuring approximately 2" x 2" is pictured here and also accompanies the lot. Very good condition. Estimate: $55,000 - $65,000.
