In what is one of the most famous photographs taken by photographer Annie Leibovitz of John Lennon and Yoko Ono. This 5.5" X 7.5" color photograph is a press proof that was taken by Leibovitz with her photographer’s stamp on the verso. The intimate scene was photographed by Leibovitz just hours before Lennon was shot on December 8, 1980. It has been reported that Lennon indicated that the pose captured his relationship with Yoko exactly. The image which appeared on the cover of the January 22, 1981 issue of Rolling Stone magazine is among the most famous of the many Leibovitz photographs that have graced its cover throughout the seventies and eighties.
