Appearing in his first American performance following the break-up of the Beatles, John Lennon appears on stage with his wife Yoko Ono at the 1971 John Sinclair Freedom Rally, Ann Arbor, Michigan in this 11" x 14" black and white photograph taken by Sinclair’s wife and noted writer/photographer Leni Sinclair, who has signed and annotated the verso. John Sinclair was a Michigan political activist who was sentenced to more than 12 years in prison for the possession of single marijuana joint. The event organized by Yippie, Jerry Rubin was part of a series of protest events leading up to the 1972 Republican Party National Convention. Leni and her husband John were an integral part of the radical movement of the 1960’s and ’70’s. Excellent condition. Estimate: $200 - $300.
