These are two 7 inch original reels of an unreleased John Lennon and Yoko Ono interview with Howard Smith, circa 1969. This is a master tape, approximately 25 minutes running time, with excellent quality. The boxes are labels "Home 1" and "Home 2" on the front in blue ballpoint pen, and are also labeled on the sides "John & Yoko Toronto Interview reel 1" and John & Yoko Toronto Interview reel 2" in red ink on the sides of the boxes. From the period of 1969 and 1972 Howard Smith, an Oscar winning director, producer and radio producer (among many other things!) conducted several candid interviews with John and Yoko covering many topics including the bed-in for peace, the break up of the Beatles, and much much more. Smith, who has gotten his start as a photographer for news publications such as LIFE and Newsweek, was at the time writing a groundbreaking column for the Village Voice called "Scenes". It was at this time that Smith, a good friend and confidant to John and Yoko, conducted these interviews. The reels are labeled "Toronto Interview" and this might refer to the 1969 Live Peace concert in Toronto. Excellent condition. Comes with a Gotta Have Rock & Roll™ Certificate of Authenticity.
