Jonny Z's (Jonathan Zazula) personally owned original Metallica logo artwork, ink on paper. This archive features the logo artwork, black ink on paper measuring 12 x 9, and two sketches. Also included in the original invoice from illustrator/designer Peter A. Mazzoli dated May 22, 1984 for the logo artwork, ink on paper and sketched, for a total of $75! In addition, Marsha Zazula's "Crazed Management, Inc." original business card is included (Marsha was Jonny's wife and the co-founder of Megaforce Records). The logo artwork and accompanying invoice and card comes in a 9 x 12 manila folder that Jonny has signed and inscribed, "Line drawings from logo experimentation in '84, Jonny Z" in black ballpoint pen. Jonny Z is the former owner of New Jersey's Rock'n Roll Heaven record store and founder of record label Megaforce Records. Zazula's record store in East Brunswick, New Jersey made him a central figure of the East Coast metal scene. His central role in the East Coast metal scene would later be an essential factor in launching the career of Metallica. Zazula offered the band their first opportunity to play in the New York area and organized their first tours with Raven, one of the leading metal bands from the UK at that time. After hearing the demo tape No Life 'Til Leather, he founded the label Megaforce Records to release their work. Zazula released Metallica's debut album Kill 'Em All and set up an East Coast tour with private funding. Comes with a Gotta Have Rock and Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
