The original album artwork for famed “Rock and Roll Over” album done by Michael Doret. Back in 1976, Doret was hired to do the album artwork for “Rock and Roll Over”. Doret was unfamiliar with the group, and even had to ask Gene, Paul, Ace and Peter to describe the band to him before starting on the artwork. Doret was stumped on what to make the album cover, but used his prior works for a Japanese Art Magazine as inspiration. He emulated the look from the magazine onto the cover of the album. It was game like, with graphic elements that Doret thought would tell the story of what KISS were about. So Doret created this elaborate artwork with colored pencil to present to the group. When Doret went in 1976 to present it to the band members, the band loved the artwork, only asking for very minor changes like small adjustments to the faces, particularly Paul’s, and rotating the letter by 90 degrees. Doret then created a “mechanical” finished product that was done in black ink with multiple vellum overlays. This allowed the printers to directly print from the printer’s plate. So, this makes this colored drawing the only remaining piece of artwork for the album. This artwork is a piece of KISS history. Artwork shows some age with some yellowing. Artwork measures 13 x 13 and it framed beautifully with the final product of the album. The frame measures 17 x 29. Comes with a letter of authenticity from Michael Doret and a Gotta Have Rock and Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
