John Salley and Kobe Bryant Event-Worn & Signed Lakers Hard Hat Worn During Victory Parade for Winning 2000 NBA Title.
On June 19, 2000, the Los Angeles Lakers won their 12th NBA title in franchise history after defeating the Eastern Conference Champion Indiana Pacers, four games to two. That season's team had several standouts including Shaquille O’Neal, Kobe Bryant, Ron Harper, Robert Horry, AC Green and Derek Fisher. They also had an NBA veteran on the roster in John Salley, who had won a pair of NBA titles during his tenure with the Detroit Pistons and joined the Lakers during his final season in the league. Presented here is a multi-signed L.A. Lakers-branded hard hat that was worn by both Bryant and Salley during the team’s city-wide victory parade after clinching the title. The hard hat includes several signatures in black marker from that year’s squad including both Bryant and Salley (who spelled his name “Spider Salley”), along with head coach Phil Jackson, O’Neal, Green, Horry, Fisher, Tyronn Lue, Rick Fox, Devean George, Travis Knight, Glen Rice and John Celestand. Nearly every player also included his uniform number next to his signature.
Authentication: A Gotta Have Rock and Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
Note: This event-worn helmet comes from the personal collection of former NBA player John Salley.
