This Elvis Presley twice signed 1956 William Morris Agency one page contract is one of the rarest Presley documents ever offered at auction. The document, an agreement for the agency to represent Elvis, is a letter of understanding between Elvis, the Agency and Colonel Tom Parker, giving Parker final approval of all contracts to be entered into by Elvis during the term of this exclusive agreement. Typed on official William Morris letterhead, the agreement is dated January 31, 1956 and was signed by Elvis just one day after he recorded "Blue Suede Shoes" and three days after his first national television appearance, on Jackie Gleason's "Stage Show" which taped in New York. Signed twice by Elvis in black fountain pen, this document measures 8.5 x 17.5. Also included is a rider to the contract, measuring 8.5 x 5.5, that is initialed by Elvis in black fountain pen as well. This historic contract and rider is beautifully framed and matted with two large black and white photographs showing Elvis at the signing, one in which he is actually signing the document. Framed, measures an impressive 37.5 x 39.
