Elvis Presley’s personally owned copy of “Leaves of Gold” that he has heavily notated and signed and inscribed to his girlfriend Sheila Ryan. Elvis has written on the first inside page, “To Sheila, Love Allways, E.P.” There are over 20 pages where Elvis has underscored many passages, made notations in the margins on passages that interested him, and has written personal notes, all in ballpoint pen. The book comes with a notarized letter of authenticity from Elvis' close friend, hairdresser, and spiritual advisor, Larry Geller. Larry and Elvis studied and discussed spiritual, religious and philosophy books that he would give to Elvis. Elvis was a deeply spiritual person and he amassed quite a library of these books over the years, studying them and writing his own notes in them and underlining passages that were important to him. “Leaves of Gold” was one of his favorites, and he had many passages memorized that he would often quote. In a documentary produced by director Steven Soderbergh, a friend of Elvis discusses the book that Elvis read as they were driving cross-country from Memphis to Hollywood and Elvis is heard discussing one “Leaves of Gold”.
