This is John Bonham’s personally owned and heavily used leather messenger bag that was given to the Led Zeppelin drummer as a gift from Atlantic Records. This promotional bag bearing a large Atlantic Records stamp was given out by the record company to various people worked with and for the company, but this bag is much rarer than these other bags because it was given to John Bonham and he personally used it for years. Bonham gifted the bag to famed booking and promotional manager Irwin Pate, who is perhaps best known for his work and close friendship with James Brown from the late 1960's until the early 1980's. The body of the bag measures approximately 14 x 2.5 x 13, with heavy use by Bonham. The bag comes with a letter of provenance from Irwin Pate's widow on "James Brown Productions" letterhead and a Gotta Have Rock & Roll™ Certificate of Authenticity.
