He was one of the best power hitting catchers of his generation and considered by many to be one of the best offensive catchers of all time. Piazza also hit one of the most famous homers in baseball history as he hit a game clinching homer for the New York Mets shortly after the September 11th attacks to put the Mets in the lead.
