Elvis Presley has twice signed this Tennessee Karate Institute “Certificate of Rank” that he filled out and dated “Aug 15 1974” in his own hand for his close friend and “Memphis Mafia” member Bobby “Red” West. He filled out the certificate in crayon and signed it in crayon “Elvis Presley 7th” (denoting his Karate ranking at the time) above the Chief Instructor line. He has also signed in blue pen above the Master of Martial Arts line. The certificate is beautifully framed and matted with black silk and an 8 x 10 color photograph showing Elvis instructing Red (in the plaid shirt) wearing his “Tiger Gi.” The other individual in the photograph is Elvis’ former bodyguard Dave Hebler. Also framed with a plaque telling the story of the certificate. Measures 18.5 x 33 framed. Comes with letter of provenance from Ed Parker.
