The Who bassist John Entwistle signed hand-drawing of three horses on a napkin from the famed Stork Club in New York City. Hand-drawn and signed in black ink, with the famed Stork Club "Stork" printed in the middle. This signed drawing was obtained by a dinner guest on a magical night in late in 1979 when she had the incredible luck of having dinner at the Stork Club with The Who, who were staying at the Hotel Navarro in New York City, their home base when they were on tour. They would stay at the hotel, which was next door to the Stork Club, (you could get to the Stork Club through a passageway in the hotel), then fly out to their nearby concerts from there. This evening bears historical significance since it was just before the Who's infamous concert in Cincinnati where the tragic stampede took place. The companion of the person who received the signature spent time with the band before and after the stampede and vividly remembers their anguish at what happened. The drawing features three horses racing around the napkin. Entwistle has signed his name above the head of one of the horses. The writing “The Who” done in pencil is in an unknown hand. In addition to being one of the most famed bassists in Rock history, Entwistle is also known for his artwork and this is an excellent example of a beautiful drawing done by the talented bassist. This piece has been in the personal collection of the person who obtained it that night. It is fragile and must be handled carefully. Measures approximately 9.25 x 9. Comes with a letter of provenance from the woman who was there at the Stork Club on that magical night and a Gotta Have Rock & Roll Certificate of Authenticity.
