A large and significant archive related to iconic actress of screen and stage Katharine Hepburn including many items of autographed correspondence, photographs and related materials – most of which once belonging and related to the work of photographer John Bryson. Bryson was a noted photojournalist for “LIFE” Magazine and other magazines whose extensive work included many celebrities, but most noted was his book “The Private World of Katharine Hepburn.” Included in the archive is a signed 10 X 8 color photograph of Hepburn, Bryson and others taken at her home that she has signed “Kate” and personalized to Bryson; seven (7) signed typewritten letters and three (3) signed handwritten letters most all of which are signed “Kate”; A signed PLAYBILL to “The West Side Waltz” signed on the cover by Katharine Hepburn and Dorothy Loudon; several other 8 X 10 photographs including other color photographs of Hepburn, Bryson and company and second generation photographs of a young Hepburn including one as a youngster taken of her family and siblings; a 2 X 2 color slide of Hepburn and actor John Wayne from their film “Rooster Cogburn”; approximately 40 black and white contact sheets, more than 40 – 3.5 X 5 black and white photographs taken during various photo shoots including those showing the production crew; several 4 X 5 color transparencies that appear to be final production shots taken of Hepburn and many 1.375 X 5 black and white negative strips.
