Madonna's "SEX" is probably the most famous photo book of all time. Madonna teamed up with one of the most successful fashion photographers, Steven Meisel, to produce a series of photo essays. Each essay has a different sexual theme. She was at the peak of her popularity at the time. A number of her friends and celebrities joined in the photo sessions including: Isabella Rossellini, Udo Kier, Vanilla Ice, Big Daddy Kane, Naomi Campbell, and male model and artist Tony Ward among others.

”Sex” was published at the beginning of the second phase of Madonna's career. The first finished with the release of 1990's Immaculate Collection and this book was released around the same time as the establishment of her Maverick Production Company and the culmination of the 'Blond Ambition Tour.' According to Book Finder's annual survey, it remains the most highly sought out-of-print book.
