Michael Jackson wore this black sequin pullover sweater top during his December 2007 photo shoot for Ebony Magazine. This top was given by Emporio Armani, Italy to use for the live photo-shoot in New York, and one lucky employee was fortunate enough to be given the top as a retirement gift from the Ebony team after the shoot with Michael Jackson. The owner of the top has kept it protected in a smoke and pet free home for many years and has never used it. It is in excellent condition. After the shoot they attached all the tags back on to the top which prove its authenticity. It has a tiny hole about 1 cm on the left arm; however this is really unnoticeable as the top is constructed of two layers of black fabric. The owner did not repair the whole to retain its originality. The top is fully layered with a sequence that is silver, grey and black. This is an original piece and this top was only retrievable via the employee that worked for Emporio Armani who got this piece. It is a press piece that was sent out to Ebony for the photo shoot with Michael Jackson. After the collection had finished they were able to purchase the item and give it to a employee as a gift. The December 2007 Ebony issue marked the 25th anniversary of Jackson’s landmark album, Thriller. The King of Pop granted Ebony an exclusive interview for the magazine’s December issue, in which the singer recalled how he was inspired by Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, how hip-hop has evolved since its inception and Quincy Jones’ unusual nickname for him.
