President Theodore Roosevelt, the 26th president of the United States, boldly signed impressive document dated December 20, 1904 making an appointment to the rank of “Second Lieutenant in the Military Corp.”
The document is countersigned by the Secretary of War and the future United States President William Howard Taft. Roosevelt was the Vice President under William McKinley and assumed the presidency after his assassination. Taft was elected the 27th President of the United States in 1908 as the chosen successor to Theodore Roosevelt and the only person to have held both the Office of President and a former Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court. A fine signed artifact from this very popular President nicknamed “The Rough Rider."
