A large collection of more than eighty (80) letters from political figures, many of whom were Cabinet figures or confidants of the President that date as early as 1918. Included also are state governors and members of Congress. Content includes some duplication and offers the collector of political autographs quite an archive. Among the letters are: Cordell Hull (1938, longest serving Secretary of State, Nobel Prize winner), Will Hays (1921, Postmaster General), John Sirica (2) (1977 & 1979, DC District Court Judge), Frank B. Kellogg (1927, Sec. of State), William B. Wilson (1918, Sec. of Labor), Douglas McKay (1954, Sec. of Interior), Drew Lewis (1982, Sec. of Transportation), James A Farley (6) (Six Letters typed on Coca-Cola stationery , signed as Chairman, dated 1966-1969, Postmaster General), Henry Cabot Lodge Jr.(3) (1937 & 1952, three-letters, one typed on Eisenhower For President letterhead, Senator), Charles Erwin Wilson (1953, Sec. of Defense), Griffin B. Bell (4) (Four letters,1978-79, US Attorney General), Casper Weinberger (4) (Four letters, 1982-86, Sec. of Defense), Dick Cheney (1990, Sec. of Defense), William French Smith (2) (Two letters, 1982 & 1984, US Attorney General), Samuel R. Pierce Jr. (2) (Two letters, 1982 & 1983, Sec. Housing and Urban Development), Ed Meese III (1982, Counsellor to the President), Dean Acheson (1954, Sec. of State), Dwight Morrow (1929, US Ambassador to Mexico), Nelson Rockefeller (3) (Three letters, 1940 & 41, Coordinator Council of National Defense), Nelson Rockefeller (3) (three letters, 1959, 1960 & 1963, NY State Governor), John McCormack (2) (two letters 1949 & 1966, US Congress, House Majority Leader), Robert Taft Signature Cut (Son of President William Howard Taft, and US Senate), John Davis (ALS, 1848, Governor of Massachusetts), Frederick H. Gillett (1921, Speaker of the House), Norman Armour (1946, US Diplomat), Hugh L. Carey (1974, Governor New York), Earl Warren (1948, Governor California), Ed Koch (1984, Mayor NYC), Robert Wagner (1963, Mayor NYC), and Alf Landon (1936, Governor Kansas). Among the correspondence are other letters written by Senators, including: Ralph Yarborough, Irving M. Ives (2), James H. Duff, Everett M. Dirksen (2), Hubert H. Humphrey and Tom Eagleton. Very good overall condition. NOTE: this collection comes from a single source collection but we cannot guarantee the authenticity of every signature.
