These four Beatles iconic collarless jackets were custom made by their tailor D.A. Millings & Son for the film “A Hard Day’s Night” and were part of a comprehensive wardrobe that was designed and tailored by Millings that also included clothing to be worn by the Beatles in “HELP.” The jackets are accompanied by four pairs of black pants custom made by D.A. Millings & Son for the Beatles and the original paper patterns showing the tailor’s original design and instructions for John Lennon’s jacket. There are four D.A. Millings & Son originally signed copied letters of authenticity. Each of the letters states the following: “These outfits on order no. 1324/1426 were made by us and supplied to be worn by the Beatles. They were returned to us for repair and adjustments, and were subsequently known World-Wide as the Original Beatles Jackets. They formed part of a comprehensive wardrobe we designed and tailored for “Hard Days Night” – and “Help” films.” Each of the jackets and pants has D.A. Millings & Son labels, with each of the Beatles names and information written in ballpoint pen. The jackets and pants are in excellent condition. These iconic jackets were on display at The Beatles Story museum in Liverpool in the United Kingdom, and were featured on the BBC show “Blue Peter.” Extensive documentation is included in this offering, including the D.A. Millings & Son signed letters , original letters from BBC producer Joe Godwin as well as Terry Sampson and Diana Bromley from The Beatles Story Museum. Also included is an original letter of possession from the consignor that has been witnessed on The Beatles Story museum stationery.
