The Beatles Ringo Starr Owned & 1960’s Stage Worn Suit - Jacket, Trousers, Shirt, & Tie
This costume is from Louis Tussauds Waxworks in Morecambe. It originally came directly from Beatles manager Brian Epstein to the Waxworks in 1964. A full set of four suits [Lennon, McCartney, Harrison & Starr] were supplied by Epstein and were actual Beatle worn suits. Epstein also did the same for Madame Tussauds Waxworks in London around the same time.
The costume comprises of:
1. A collarless four button jacket in blue jersey material with Ferrafoam lining; 40 inch chest and 28 inches from nape of neck.
2. A pair of brown trousers; 27 inch waist and 32 inch inside leg.
3. A white shirt which has a double cuff and 14 1/2 inch collar.
4. A multi-coloured tie measuring 3/4 inch x 38 inches.
5. A Letter of Provenance, detailing the costumes entire history.
The costume was purchased by Henry Cook from Nick Harrison a Weird & Wonderful Film Props based at Elstree Film Studios. The costume was displayed at Elstree Film Studios in the 80s.
The letter of provenance comes from Henry Cook who was one of the biggest memorabilia dealers in the UK and used to organize the biggest UK Memorabilia Show at the Birmingham NEC. In the 1990's the costumes were featured on Phillip Schofield's TV show 'Schofield's Quest' and also 'This Morning' with Richard & Judy.
