The Concert for Bangladesh Original Vintage Sterling Silver Pendant/Charm from Apple Executive
This pendant was given to participants of the historic concerts and this one was given to an Apple Records executive and comes directly from his personal collection.
The silver pennant features a starved Bangladeshi child with an empty plate, and the engraved words "The Concert for Bangladesh" above him and the engraved date "August 1971" below him. On the back is engraved an apple with "Sterling" stamped below it.<>
On the back there is an Apple Records The Concert for Bangladesh was a pair of benefit concerts organized by George Harrison and Indian sitar player Ravi Shankar. Held for two days at Madison Square Garden to raise international awareness of, and fund relief for refugees from East Pakistan, following the Bangladesh Liberation War-related genocide. The concerts featured a host of the most well-known rock stars at the time including: George Harrison, Ringo Starr, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, Billy Preston, Leon Russell, Badfinger and more.
The concerts were followed by a bestselling live album, a boxed three-record set, and Apple Films' concert documentary, which opened in cinemas in the spring of 1972 and provided valuable lessons and inspiration for projects that followed, such as Live Aid.
