ZZ Top Band Signed Gibson Guitar Played By Billy Gibbons & Dusty Hill.
ZZ Top band members Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill and Frank Beard have signed this Gibson guitar in a gold sharpie. Gibbons has added, “ZZ Top” at the top of the guitar. Gibbons and Hill both played the guitar briefly when they signed it backstage for our consignor, a friend who had worked with them in the past. Per our consignor, “I had worked with ZZ and it was a homecoming when I went to their concert and backstage to say “hi” and get a guitar signed. I was shocked at how much weight Billy had lost. You have to tell me your secret, I said. No, you don’t want to know. I really do, I persisted. Okay - I stopped eating for a few months and just drank beer. And that’s how you lost all the weight, I asked incredulously. No, he replied, it was when I was in the hospital after that. I did get a huge laugh out of him when I asked him if the band is called Zed Zed Top when they play Canada and Europe. Both Gibbons and Hill played the guitar during the encounter.”
Provenance: From the collection of a former Music Executive. Lots 76 to 100 and Lots 499 to 803 in this auction are consigned by one vendor, who worked with and met various artists from 1985-1992. All the items were personally obtained by the vendor. This is the best in-person collection we have ever handled as an auction company.
